Shipping & Delivery

Everything you need to know about how your order travels from my workshop to your door.

Last updated: 8 March 2026

1 Overview

Every shield sold by Shieldwright is made to order in my Białystok workshop. Because each piece is crafted by hand to historical specification, I do not hold finished inventory — your order goes directly from bench to courier.

I ship worldwide using specialist art and fine-goods couriers chosen for their experience handling large, fragile, and high-value items. Delivery charges are calculated at checkout based on destination and the dimensional weight of your order.

All prices include Polish VAT

Prices shown on the website include VAT at the prevailing Polish rate. International customers outside the EU may be subject to import duties and local taxes upon arrival — these are not collected by Shieldwright and will not be refunded.

2 Production & Lead Times

Because every item is made to order, there is a production period before your piece is ready for dispatch. Lead times vary by product and current workshop capacity; the estimated range is shown on each product page and confirmed in your order acknowledgement.

Product categoryTypical lead time
Stock shields (standard patterns, in-season)4–8 weeks
Painted & decorated shields4–8 weeks
Heraldic & armorial pieces4–8 weeks
Bespoke commissions4–8 weeks (agreed individually)

Lead times are estimates given in good faith. During peak periods — particularly October through December and around major re-enactment seasons — times may be slightly extended. I will notify you by email if your order is delayed beyond the estimate given at the time of purchase.

Rush Orders

If you have a specific deadline, contact me at info@shieldwright.eu before placing your order. I will confirm whether a rush schedule is feasible. A rush surcharge of 15% applies to expedited production.

3 Poland

Domestic orders within Poland are dispatched via my specialist courier partner. All shipments are fully insured, trackable, and require a signature on delivery.

4 European Union

Because Shieldwright is based within the EU, orders dispatched to other EU member states benefit from frictionless customs clearance. All prices are inclusive of VAT and no additional import charges will be levied at the border.

5 International

I ship to most destinations worldwide. International shipments outside the EU are dispatched on a Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU) basis. Import duties, taxes, and clearance fees are the responsibility of the recipient and vary by country.

Some destinations may not be serviceable by my couriers due to export restrictions, carrier limitations, or local regulatory requirements. If your country is unavailable at checkout, please contact me and I will explore alternative arrangements where possible.

Customs Documentation

A commercial invoice and CN22/CN23 customs declaration are attached to every international package. Declared values on customs forms reflect the true transaction value as required by law — I am unable to falsify declared values.

6 Packaging

I take as much care packing your order as I do making it. Shields are individually wrapped in acid-free tissue and archival foam before being housed in bespoke double-wall cardboard cradles. Three-dimensional pieces travel in purpose-built wooden crates lined with high-density foam.

  • All outer cartons are clearly marked Fragile — Do Not Stack and This Way Up.
  • A certificate of authenticity, care & maintenance guide, and packing inventory are included with every order.
  • Gift wrapping in linen cloth with a wax-sealed Shieldwright card is available at checkout.
  • I use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible; all tissue and void-fill is acid-free and biodegradable.

Please retain all original packaging until you are satisfied with your order, as it may be required for returns or insurance claims.

7 Tracking Your Order

Dispatch Notification

When your order leaves my workshop you will receive a dispatch confirmation email containing your courier tracking number and a direct link to the carrier's tracking portal. Please check your spam folder if this email does not arrive within 24 hours of the expected dispatch date.

Tracking Updates

Tracking information is updated by the carrier at each scan point — typically at collection, consolidation hub, destination depot, and on the day of delivery. International shipments may show gaps in tracking whilst in transit between countries.

Order Status

You can look up the status of your order using your order number and the email address used at checkout. If you have any difficulty, contact me directly and I will provide an update.

No Tracking Update?

International tracking can sometimes go quiet for several days whilst a parcel moves through customs. If your tracking has shown no movement for more than 5 working days, please contact me and I will investigate with the carrier on your behalf.

8 Delays & Force Majeure

Shieldwright shall not be liable for delays in production or delivery caused by circumstances beyond my reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Carrier disruptions, strikes, or industrial action.
  • Severe weather or natural disaster.
  • Customs delays or border control procedures.
  • Pandemic-related restrictions or government orders.
  • Shortages of specialist materials required for the commissioned piece.

In the event of a significant delay beyond the estimate provided at checkout, I will contact you by email as promptly as possible with an updated timeline. You will have the option to wait, amend your order, or — for standard (non-bespoke) items — cancel for a full refund.

9 Failed Deliveries

Nobody Home

If the courier cannot deliver because no one is available to sign, they will leave a card and attempt redelivery on the next working day. After two failed attempts the parcel will be held at a local depot for collection for up to 5 working days. If uncollected, it will be returned to us.

Returned Parcels

If a parcel is returned to me due to failed delivery or an incorrect address supplied by you, I will contact you to arrange reshipment. A second delivery charge at the standard rate will apply. If you no longer wish to proceed with the order, I will issue a refund for the goods less the original and return shipping costs.

Lost or Damaged in Transit

All Shieldwright shipments are fully insured for the declared value of the goods. If your order arrives damaged or is confirmed lost by the carrier, please contact me within 48 hours of the delivery event (or within 10 working days of the expected delivery date for lost parcels). I will open a claim with the carrier and arrange repair, replacement, or refund as appropriate. Please photograph any damage to outer packaging before opening your parcel.

10 Workshop Collection

You are welcome to collect your order directly from my workshop in Białystok at no additional charge. Select Workshop Collection at checkout and I will contact you by email when your piece is ready.
